Van Der Hoeven Kliniek is a forensic psychiatry clinic, which serves prisoners who often have complex psychiatric issues. The goal of the clinic is to have the clients learn how to 'live in a responsible way - to be safe for themselves and others'. The CoWin would be another tool in their belt which would help rehabilitate these prisoners.

CoWin Halo provides the maximum security from our selection of systems, a perfect fit for a de-escalation room designed for those with complex psychiatric issues. The ease of use, broad range of applications, and extremely secure design allow for staff to safely and efficiently de-escalate clients while they are in isolation. The traditional approach to isolation removed all forms of stimuli. This ended up creating undue stress; something as simple as music or images was enough to guide the clients back towards a safe baseline.

The simplicity of use, ability to adjust stimuli levels to different clients, and provide meaningful content such as music and photos has led to a reduction in violent and non-violent incidents. The staff have found the ability to increase stimuli over time and maintain contact with their clients from a safe distance to be a satisfying experience.
